SPIN – Squash Player Identification Number

In order to increase efficiency and provide a better service for players, regions, nations and event hosts the WSF has introduced a player registration service that will operate for events taking place after 1st January 2014.

In outline, from now on all players who wish to play in all World Individual and Team Championships, Regional Championships and World Junior Circuit events at all age levels will need to be registered.

They will then be provided with their SPIN (Squash Player Identification Number), which stays with them for life.

About SPIN

Any player, irrespective of age, can be registered by their federation or they can do it for themselves (especially Masters players) by completing the on-line registration form and paying on-line (a GBP10 once only lifetime fee, not annual). Half of all the fees paid by the players (or Member Nations on their behalf) will be split equally between the five Regional Federations to help fund development initiatives. Nations will be automatically notified of all player registrations from their country and have the opportunity to veto any at any time in case of issue.

For Regional Championships, all ages, team and individual events, players must be registered; similarly for World Championships (junior, senior, team, doubles and World Cup). Member Nations will enter players using the on-line system. Squad and Team submissions would also be made on-line.

It is important to emphasise that not only will nations have the power to control registrations from their nation, but their overall control will continue as previously as entries responsibility they have will be unchanged.

Registered players would enter themselves only for the World Masters, as they currently do.

Tournament Planner software is used to take entries for National Junior Open events, with players at Under-19 level able to claim World Junior Circuit ranking points.
